Mary Eileen McDonnell, born on April 28, 1952, in the US She is a stage actress and film actor. She was awarded an Academy Award nod for the role she played as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. In addition to this role McDonnell is known for her role as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) as the wife of the president in Independence Day as well as her main role in the film as Donnie Darko's mom.
